Hatillo is know as “El Pueblo Sin Sopa”(the town without soup). Hatillo was founded June 30,1823 by Agustin Ruiz Miranda today, Hatillo is the mayor producer of milk on the island and produce the third party consumed in Puerto Rico. Hatillo sits on Puerto Rico’s north shore, with Arecibo to the east, Camuy to the west and Lares and Utuado to the south. SJU airport is about an hour away and Aguadilla airport is a 40 minute drive.

Festival de las Mascaras - If you’re in Puerto Rico for the holidays, don’t miss Hatillo’s Festival de las Mascaras (“Festival of the mask’s) a celebration based on a tradition that originated in Spain’s Canary Island. This colorful and lively event is held each year December 28, which marks El Dia de los Santos Inocentes (“Day of the Innocent Saints”).

Upward of 30,000 people attend to see the parade participants, human and equine alike, donning intricate ruffled costumes and beautiful decorated paper-mache masks that are in themselves exceptional pieces of authentic Puerto Rican art.

Cheese lovers- is a must-visit destination for anyone who love cheddar, gouda and other like. Owned and run by microbiologist with strong tries to the local diary industries.
